Monday, January 12th, 2009Doljabee
Sunday, January 11th, 2009During the Doljabee event, the birthday child goes around the table and picks up items that attract him. The child’s future is predicted according to the what he grabs. After placing the child in front of the table, the child’s father becomes the guide for the child to go around the table and grab whatever he wants. The first and second items the child grabs are considered the most important. We had the following items:
- money (representing wealth)
- book, writing brush, and ink stone (all representing scholarship)
- rice (representing prosperity)
- computer mouse (not traditional but perhaps representing nerdiness? ;))
In this video, you can see that Aidan picks up the book first then the ink stone second. Apparently, this means he will be very smart. Crossing our fingers!
